ImmunoDiag project

"ImmunoDiag – Development of an innovative technology for the production of tools applicable in broadly understood diagnostics" 2026-2029

In 2026, the Research and Development Department of Salmonella Center IMMUNOLAB Ltd. received funding in a competition organized by the Pomerania Development Agency (ARP) – Measure 1.1 “Research and Innovation in Enterprises”, implemented under the regional programme European Funds for Pomerania 2021–2027, for the implementation of project No. FEPM.01.01-IP.03-0049/25 entitled “ImmunoDiag – Development of an innovative technology for the production of tools applicable in broadly understood diagnostics”.

Project objectives

The main objective of the project is to develop an innovative technology for the production of diagnostic and therapeutic tools for combating diseases caused by bacteria producing Shiga toxin (Stx2e). The project aims to create effective and safe alternatives to antibiotic therapy in pig farming, in line with the One Health concept.

Tasks and activities carried out under the project

The project includes a range of research and development activities, including:

  • development of an efficient methodology for the production of high-purity Stx2eB protein,
  • design and production of antigens for hen immunization,
  • obtaining and purification of specific IgY antibodies from egg yolks,
  • validation of the effectiveness of the developed solutions in in vitro and in vivo tests,
  • development of the formulation and stabilization technology for an innovative feed preparation,
  • development and validation of a prototype rapid cassette test (LFA) for the detection of Shiga toxin.

Target groups

The project is addressed to four main target groups:

  • Pig farmers – owners of farms and production facilities seeking methods to support animal immunity and alternatives to antibiotics.
  • Veterinarians and veterinary technicians – professionals who need tools for rapid field diagnostics.
  • Veterinary and diagnostic laboratories – facilities performing tests on biological material.
  • Feed and feed additive manufacturers – companies interested in new components for ecological feed mixtures.

Project effects and results

The direct result of the project will be an implementation-ready technology for the production of two products: an innovative feed supplement with immunoprophylactic activity and a rapid diagnostic test for the detection of Shiga toxin. The implementation of the project will contribute to improving food safety and animal welfare by reducing the use of antibiotics.

Project value

The total value of the project is PLN 5,728,081.70.

Contribution from European Funds

The European Union funding amounts to PLN 4,158,677.27.
