ONE HEALTH AT IMMUNOLAB

One Health is an integrated approach that recognizes the health of humans, animals, plants and the environment as interconnected elements of a shared biological safety system.

At IMMUNOLAB, we put this concept into practice through diagnostics, research, biological hazard monitoring and cross-sector collaboration.

Why is the One Health approach important?

Zoonoses

Many pathogens responsible for human diseases originate in animals.
Monitoring pathogens in the environment, animal production and the food chain is a key element of health security systems.

Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)

Antimicrobial resistance is one of the most serious public health challenges worldwide.<
European Union institutions emphasize the need for action based on the One Health approach, including surveillance, prevention and the prudent use of antibiotics.

Food Safety

Integrated surveillance of pathogens throughout the food chain helps reduce the risk of disease outbreaks and strengthen consumer safety.

How do we implement the One Health approach at IMMUNOLAB?

At IMMUNOLAB, we combine expertise in microbiological diagnostics, research and development, method validation and knowledge transfer. Our activities focus on areas where human, animal, plant and environmental health are interconnected.

Pathogen diagnostics

We develop and improve methods supporting the identification of pathogens relevant to public health, veterinary medicine and food safety.

Food safety

We develop laboratory solutions supporting microbiological control and the assessment of the safety of products and processes.

Research and development projects

We conduct R&D activities focused on the development of diagnostic technologies, monitoring tools and solutions supporting health security.

Monitoring of biological hazards

We support activities related to the surveillance of pathogens in the environment, animal production and the food chain.

Data quality and method validation

We ensure the reliability of results through method validation, standardisation of procedures, traceability and work carried out in accordance with quality management systems.

Knowledge transfer and cooperation

We provide training and consultations and cooperate with scientific institutions, public authorities and industry partners.

Zaangażowanie IMMUNOLAB w rozwój koncepcji One Health

IMMUNOLAB aktywnie uczestniczy w działaniach rozwijających koncepcję One Health w województwie pomorskim — poprzez udział w inicjatywie „Wspólne Zdrowie Pomorza”, prace nad rozwojem specjalizacji „Wspólne Zdrowie” oraz członkostwo w Radzie Inteligentnej Specjalizacji Pomorza.

Shared Health of Pomerania

IMMUNOLAB participated in the development of the “Wspólne Zdrowie Pomorza” (“Shared Health of Pomerania”) Regional Research Agenda, led by the Medical University of Gdańsk. The Agenda addresses the region’s needs in relation to human, animal and environmental health as an interconnected ecosystem.

Development of the “Shared Health” specialisation

In 2024–2025, IMMUNOLAB participated in activities aimed at developing the regional “Wspólne Zdrowie” (“Shared Health”) specialisation in the Pomorskie Voivodeship. These activities included extending the scope of the specialisation to incorporate animal and plant health, in line with the comprehensive One Health concept.

Pomeranian Smart Specialisation Council

IMMUNOLAB is a member of the Pomeranian Smart Specialisation Council for “Wspólne Zdrowie” (“Shared Health”) and participates in work on the development of technologies and research in the areas of health security, diagnostics, monitoring of biological hazards and food safety.
